Where We Started

The challenge

As pandemic restriction started to lift, Quest A/V needed to ramp up their marketing efforts quickly as events started to be scheduled again. The past couple of years had been tough on the industry from a financial perspective, so we were tasked with using their limited budget as cost-effectively as possible. With their previous website being built on an outdated platform, that meant a full re-build. Technical efficiencies had to be found wherever possible so both teams were open to all possible paths to finalize the new website.

  • A somewhat dated visual design
  • A lack of focus on the new service offerings
  • Calls to action were not as effective as they could be
  • Web pages were not very usable by visitors on mobile devices
  • A fairly rigid and limiting content management system stymied creativity
  • Inefficient use of some plugins resulting in slow page loads
How We Collaborated

Design process

1. Original website

While the previous website design was built by Leaf Design, it was approximately 8 years old and in need of an update.

2. Design brief

The design brief was created to make sure both parties were in lockstep throughout the design process.

3. Wireframe

Significantly more content was planned for the new website, and the wireframe for the Home page shows that.

4. Final design

The final design stayed true to most of the wireframe elements, and incorporated the brands black and green colour scheme.
The Results

Our solution

A visual upgrade

Given the industry that Quest Audio/Visual operates in, it was important for the new website to be visually appealing, like the events they support. The use of a time-lapse video for the home page banner, along with flip cards, content sliders, and callouts provided a more visually impressive design that the previous website.

Equipment catalog

A significant part of Quest A/V’s business involves the rental of high-end AV equipment. To help potential customers see what equipment is available, these high-end components are organized into categories in an online product catalog. Along with photos, descriptions, and key specifications, website visitors can identify which components would be ideal for their event. A significant side effect of this approach is the SEO benefit that this content provides to help bring in relevant web traffic.

Production showcase

Having so many significant events under their belt, it was important for Quest A/V to bring attention to the variety of events that they have helped with over the years. While visually stunning, this portion of the website helps visitors to see the types and sizes of events that Quest A/V is capable of assisting with. Users can easily narrow down the types of events that they wish to look at with the built-in filter tool.

Helpful resources

A resource article section of the website was developed so that Quest A/V could post highly relevant and detailed articles that provide insight and solutions on how to make events the best they can be. Along with technical information, many articles include tips on general events planning and setup, as well as what is going on in the industry in general. Like the equipment catalog, this section of the website has become a significant driver of traffic with it being regularly updated.”
