Is This You?

We’re a good fit for …

  • Manufacturers with a catalogue of products, parts, or media
  • Industrial distributors and technical suppliers
  • Suppliers of consumables and components
  • Equipment makers who also install and service what they build
  • Safety and technical product manufacturers

If this describes your business, a 30-minute conversation is a good next step.

We might not be right if …

  • You require full transactional eCommerce with live ERP inventory sync
  • You need a configure-price-quote engine built as a standalone product
  • You are looking for an ERP or MRP system replacement

We have built custom solutions for industrial eCommerce. However, we evaluate all projects on a case-by-case basis.

Industry Issues

Common problems we see

Four patterns turn up in just about every industrial website that we are asked to rebuild.

The website has never been a lead source

Decades of business came through relationships and reputation. That works right up until the people holding those relationships retire, or the company needs to grow past the territory its reps can cover in a week.

The catalogue lives in a PDF binder

Specification sheets, drawings, and safety data sheets sit in a downloads folder hidden from the customer. None of it is indexed, none of it is findable, yet it is exactly what some buyers are looking for to help make their decision.

The brand drifted, and then the company got acquired

Twenty years of logo variants, two competing shades of the corporate blue, and a parent company that arrived last spring. A website is where all of that inconsistency becomes visible at once.

The site was built for browsing, not for specifying

Your buyer wants product details. That includes dimensions, rates, materials, and compatibility ratings. Without these details, potential customers will move on to a competitor that does have them listed.

Featured Project

General Filtration

In business for over 70 years, General Filtration was looking to modernize their website. Starting with a rebranding exercise, Leaf Design revitalized their website that houses a comprehensive catalogue of all their available products.

The website turned out beautifully and exceeded our expectations. I would strongly recommend Leaf for any B2B website.

Atlas High Purity Water

To avoid relying solely on their network of existing relationships, Atlas High Purity Water reached out to Leaf Design to build a new website focused on lead generation. The result is a modern design more appropriate for this high-tech company.

Intertex Textiles

Operating with a completely broken website, Intertex reached out to Leaf Design to fully rebuild their website from the ground up, ensuring they had a solid foundation from which to build their marketing efforts.

Our Capabilities

What we build for industrial companies

This is the usual shape of an industrial build. The catalogue is almost always the largest piece, and the rest tends to organize itself around it.

Product and parts catalogues

Category architecture, drill-down detail pages, and specifications your team can update without a developer.

Spec sheet and SDS libraries

Managed document systems, with downloads attached to the products they belong to.

Distributor and rep locators

Searchable by territory, so a buyer reaches the right contact instead of a general inbox.

Quote and RFQ routing

Structured forms that capture the technical detail inside sales needs, routed by region or product line.

Rebranding and identity work

Logo, colour, and guidelines before site design starts. Common after an acquisition, or after a few decades of drift.

Product photography

Commissioned shoots, so the catalogue looks like it belongs to a company worth specifying.

FAQs

We’ve compiled a collection of questions that we are commonly asked by our industrial and manufacturing clients.

Don’t see the answer you were looking for? Please send us a message and we’d be happy to help.
How many products can the catalogue handle?

Hundreds, or even thousands is routine. The constraint is rarely the system. It is the state of your product data, and a clean spreadsheet makes this straightforward where a filing cabinet of PDFs does not.

Can it pull live pricing and inventory from our ERP?

Sometimes. It really depends on what your ERP exposes. That is an application development project rather than a website build, and we would scope it separately.

Can customers search inside our spec sheets and safety data sheets?

Yes. With our enhanced search functionality, we can. We’ve built such functionality for many clients, including General Filtration. Search results are returned based on what is written inside a PDF rather than just a filename or description.

Our branding is a mess – can you fix that first?

Yes, and we’d usually recommend it happens before (or in conjunction with) the website project. General Filtration’s project started as a rebranding exercise before a single web page was designed.

Having their updated logo and brand guidelines settled first made the web design process much smoother.

How important is high quality product photography?

It’s the most common thing holding an industrial catalogue back. Inconsistent backgrounds, poor lighting, and low image quality all provide a negative impression to prospective buyers. We can commission a product shoot as part of the project.

What does an industrial B2B website cost?

It depends mostly on the size of the catalogue and whether the project includes rebranding or photography. We will give you a real number after the discovery call rather than a range that turns out not to apply to you.

What slows these projects down?

For most industrial and manufacturing website redesigns that involve a product catalogue, we will audit the viability of the content early on in the project.

While some clients’ catalogues are well-organized, many need a fair amount of work. This can require a significant investment in your team’s time to normalize the data, fill gaps, and commission updated product photography.
